Until April 1st, masks are required to be worn to enter the historic jail. Part of the building is in use as an overflow distancing shelter for those experiencing homelessness. The areas we visit are reserved exclusively for tour use.

For some, cemeteries evoke feelings of fear and dread. For others, they are beautiful spaces filled with memories and reflection. For us, they are places with countless stories waiting to be told. This October, we are proud to partner with Beechwood Cemetery National Historic Site for a one-of-a-kind evening filled with storytelling and chills. We will share the darker history of the cemetery’s early days and the ghost stories connected to some who rest there – including strange reports from staff that continue to this day. The experience will be mostly outdoors as we walk amongst the crypts, headstones and other markers. Our final stop of the evening will give us the rare opportunity to venture inside the Mausoleum after sunset for one last spine-tingling tale.  We recommend all guests bring a flashlight for fun & safety. Masks are required to enter the Mausoleum.

Join us as we investigate a Kingston, Ontario landmark – Murney Tower! Prior to the Tower, a wood Fort from the war of 1812 stood on the site. After the war, the barracks were used as a hospital until the Tower was built. The land was also heavily used as a landing site for indigenous peoples in the 18th century. The activity could possibly be connected to any or all of these time periods. Special Valentine’s Weekend Investigation! The Historic SDG Jail (aka the Cornwall Jail) in Cornwall, Ontario, is a site we have been asked about for years and we are thrilled to be able to offer three weekends of investigations there this fall with Phantoms of Yore. Constructed in 1833 and active until 2002, the jail served as both a minimum and maximum security facility over that time. Several executions were carried out on-site, in addition to the suicides and murders. Due to the jail’s dark history and frequent ghost stories, it has attracted the interest of ghost hunters from across North America. This 3.5-hour special event will begin with a full briefing on the haunted history of the site, the equipment to be used, and the best practices to follow when collecting and analyzing evidence. Then you will have the opportunity to venture inside the jail – in the dark – to see what you can discover. The Martintown Grist Mill, in Martintown, Ontario, was built in 1846 on the banks of the Raisin River. For 100 years, it was a centre of commerce as local residents and farmers would bring their wheat, corn, buckwheat, and other grains to the mill to be ground into flour. Almost demolished in 1986, the Mill reopened to the public in 2004 after major renovations. Since then, reports of paranormal activity on the site have greatly increased. In particular, a spirit named Jacob has made its playful presence frequently known through EVP recordings, strange electromagnetic readings, and malfunctioning electronics. The Lost Villages Museum in Long Sault, Ontario, has a well-earned reputation as one of the most haunted places in Ontario. The site commemorates “lost” communities in Eastern Ontario which were permanently submerged by the creation of the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Many of the 6,500 people displaced by the project saw their homes and businesses destroyed. We will have the opportunity to explore original buildings that have been relocated to the site.
