NEW FOR 2026 – 8 NIGHTS ONLY! Most Torontonians have seen Stanley Barracks at Exhibition Place. In recent decades, very few have been inside. Built in 1840–41, it’s the last major surviving building of Toronto’s “New Fort.” This Halloween season, we’re going in after dark.

A world of officers, mess dinners and parade grounds once filled this place. During the First World War, German and Austrian prisoners were held behind barbed wire. A generation later, men and women in uniform passed through on their way to war, some never to return and many forever changed. When the military left, families turned barrack rooms into crowded homes. If places can retain something of the people and events that shaped them, this one has had nearly two centuries to absorb both the beauty and the horror of life. For some who have spent time here, the past has seemed to reach across the years in ways hard to explain. After so much life, loss and upheaval, what, if anything, remains?

Over two hours, you’ll explore the building from basement to top floor with a small group. Traditional and modern paranormal experiments will put that question to the test. Nothing is staged and nothing is guaranteed. We’ll provide the history, the experiments and the darkness. After all, some questions can only be asked in the dark. All participants must be 16 +.

Presented in partnership with Exhibition Place and Hotel X Toronto.

Questions?

As we don’t use tricks or special effects, we cannot guarantee activity. However, given the history of the site and the activities we will be undertaking, it is more than possible. Each group will have a different and completely unpredictable experience.

We are extremely lucky to have exclusive access to Stanley Barracks.

We don’t want to give away all of the surprises, but there will be a variety of settings, some with more or less light than others.

As we will be doing a variety of different techniques and methods we would prefer you use the tools and equipment we will be sharing with you. Many of the things you will learn can be applied to future investigations.

Alone in the Dark is not about jump scares or cheap thrills. We are going deeper than that. This experience is a thoughtful and interactive evening inside an incredible and historic haunted landmark, where we will consider the nature of hauntings and reach out into the abyss.

To keep the experience intimate and personal, each investigation is limited to a maximum of 16 guests. Due to the small group size and exclusive access to the site, tickets are very limited.

Sadly, due to the age of the building, this experience is not accessible.

To see all available dates and times click the “Book Now” button.

Due to the popularity of Alone in the Dark, tickets are non-refundable. However, if you run into a situation where you cannot attend, please call The Haunted Walk (416) 238-1473 as soon as possible and we will do our best to assist.
