Hi Folks,
I have an important announcement to make about the future of our tours at the old Ottawa Jail. The Ottawa Jail Hostel has decided to end our partnership in order to focus those spaces on accommodations instead. This takes effect as of December 31st which means that this fall will be the last chance to visit the jail on one of our tours.
Obviously, this is disappointing news. For more than 25 years we’ve offered tours of a building that’s incredibly important to the history of Ottawa. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved in that time though with hundreds of thousands of people learning about the history of the jail and over $1 million raised for the preservation of the building.
We are now looking ahead and hope to meet with other interesting sites to form new partnerships and create new tours. Recently, we added several new tours in Ottawa including Tales from the Mausoleum at Beechwood Cemetery and Hidden Ottawa. And that’s just the beginning. If you have any ideas of interesting sights in Ottawa that we should work with, please leave them in the comments below.
I am sure you’ll share our disappointment with this news but I do hope that you’ll join us this fall for one last peek behind the bars at the old Ottawa Jail and say a fond farewell to a building that has come to mean so much to so many of us here at the Haunted Walk.
